Use satellite images for better reports – Journalists urged
A Geographic Information System (GIS) specialist for USAID, West Africa Region; Emmanuel Antoh has underscored the need for media practitioners in the country to inculcate the use of maps and satellite imagery in their presentation.
According to him, the use of maps and satellite images gives the public a better appreciation of the negative impact their activities have on the environment.
He disclosed this to Class91.3FM's Joshua Kodjo Mensah on Monday, December 4, on the sidelines of a workshop organised by USAID on the value of maps and satellite imagery in storytelling.
He was of the view that such images are “more compelling than just using words”.
Mr Antoh explained how the resources can be used, especially on illegal mining stories, to paint a better picture on the harmful effects of the practice to the environment.
